bye bye birdie.

did you know we had chickens? yes, five barred rock hens.

two years ago, tom surprised me with day old chicks & a coop from here.

I fell in love with chickens at our visits to the farm.

I love the sounds they make.

I love the eggs they make.

and I love just watching them peck around in our backyard.

but, the dust bathing. grass destroying. crack of dawn cries.

were anything but pleasant to my hubby.

and as much as I loved them, I love my hubby more.

so the chickens had to go. sniff sniff.

trent explained everything to the hens, 

and then a sweet farmer came to pick them up.

the little ones doing what they normally do.

in the places that they normally are.

they may not be flashy.

and they surely are not fancy.

but that's our family.

and those are the kind of moments I never want to forget.

because all the little things are really the big things.

and this house is filled with the sweetest little big things around.
